Duct tape... Never leave home without it !!!
This is an item that was originally designed for another use, mainly taping air ducts, hence the name, Duct tape. It also goes by other names like "100 MPH Tape" or "Silver Tape".
Emergency repairs on gear while out on trips is one of the most common uses, but home projects are a demanding use as well. Keep rolls everywhere you are.
With a little creative thinking, there is almost nothing that duct tape can't patch. The easy ones are items like a small hole in your mosquito net on your tent, a quick repair on a bag or strapping a box back together on the way to the airport.
More advanced users are able to build winter fronts for their autos to keep cold air out, do detailed repairs on that other must have item, the blue tarp, and are able to do presentable repairs on clothing.
Then there are the folks who live for duct tape. You probably know someone who fits this category, but most are still in the closet on this issue. Most hardcore duct tapers are a little shy. To them, there is nothing that can't be built or repaired with this wonder tool. From simple items like a hammock in a canoe to hold food and drink, to a full size hammock to lie in. With a little creativity, some balloons and a lawn chair, you can produce a fine water craft.
Latch broken on that refrigerator in the garage, no problem, duct tape. Window on the truck not staying up all the way, duct tape. Working on the computer and need a home for all those little screws that seem to roll away at just the wrong time, duct tape. Well, you get the idea, this is great stuff.
Some cold weather tips on traveling with duct tape, keep the roll warm, it doesn't stick as well when cold. Also try to warm the surface you are applying it on helps a great deal.
It makes a great FIRE starter, wad a small amount up with a little TP and you are on your way.
Working on your bike, need some protection between your tube and spokes, fold the duct tape in half and put it on the inside of your rim.
Need a great lint remover, roll the tape back on itself and go at it.
The uses are never ending. Your imagination is the only barrier. And remember, always buy the best grade of duct tape you can find, its worth it.
